Social Marketing

NDC was established as a regeneration programme to address the problems of multiple deprivation – these include poor housing and environments, low educational attainment, worklessness, drug addiction, high level of crime and low levels of social capital.

The programme was chiefly measured across its ten year life span by 8 key performance indicators. Click the links below to see how we performed

By 2009 it was clear that we were failing to make sufficient progress on smoking, physical activity and adults attaining qualifications.

Doncaster NDC commissioned a social marketing research project to gain insight into residents’ behaviour around these areas. It included an on-street survey of 403 residents, a series of focus groups and in-depth interviews, involving 68 NDC residents and 21 in-depth interviews with representatives from Doncaster NDC partner organisations and local stakeholders.

We found that many residents have the desire to positively change their behaviour in the future. However for many of our residents, a lack of confidence, self-belief and, aspiration to change, are preventing them from making the first step to improving their health and lifestyle.
